“The Correspondent” by Virginia Evans – Ebook Evaluation @CrownPublishing #NetGalley #TheCorrespondent #VirginiaEvans #BookReviewpublisher's description of "The Correspondent" by Virginia Evansmy thoughts on this novel

Written with empathy and knowledge, this debut epistolary novel was a simple 5 star learn for me.

The protagonist, Sybil Van Antwerp, is a fiercely clever lady who’s riddled with guilt and self-recrimination. She has now retired from a distinguished profession within the legislation, is divorced, and is mom to 2 grownup youngsters. Her third baby, Gilbert, died when he was solely eight years previous.

Many individuals as we speak discover the observe of letter writing to be antiquated. It’s a observe whose recognition has all however waned. Sybil is aware of this, but on a regular basis she sits at her desk and pens letters. Through the years she has written hundreds and hundreds of missives to everybody from household and buddies, to politicians, diplomats, and authors. She believes that “reaching out in correspondence is absolutely one of many authentic types of civility on the planet.”

“Persons are simply individuals. Well-known or not.”

Sybil is a beautiful septuagenarian who has two males vying for her attentions regardless of her age and diminutive stature. She says what she means, and tries to be real in all her communications. She can be shedding her sight…

“Keep in mind: phrases, particularly these written, are immortal.”

The novel,  written within the type of letters and emails, provides the reader an uncompromising glimpse into Sybil’s life, loves, regrets, guilt, and culpability. The difficult dynamics of household life, and the truth that Sybil was adopted as a toddler, play a major position within the novel. Additionally, the complexities of nothing in life being black or white, however various shades of gray.

Ebook lovers will rejoice in the truth that on the finish of almost each letter she writes, she tells her correspondent what she is studying and asks what they’re studying.

In summation, “The Correspondent” was a novel written with talent and compassion. I’ll be desperate to learn extra work by this proficient writer.
