THE FOUNDER: Relentless Aaron, born DeWitt Gilmore in 1965 in White Plains, New York, was raised in Mount Vernon from the age of five. He has become one of the most prolific voices in American literature, particularly known for his explosive contributions to urban fiction—commonly labeled “street lit.” With over 200 published novels under his belt—including writing for billionaire rapper 50 Cent under the G-Unit Books imprint at Simon & Schuster—Relentless’s catalog features standouts like Push, The Last Kingpin, and Extra Marital Affairs.

His path to authorship took shape during a six-year incarceration for check fraud, where he transformed a prison sentence into a purpose. “The goal was to change my life,” he says—and he did just that. Behind bars, he wrote dozens of novels that drew deeply from his lived experiences and street-level truths. Upon release, DeWitt self-published and sold over 200,000 books by hand before signing a groundbreaking 14-book deal with St. Martin’s Press in 2006.
