“Different Individuals’s Homes” by Clare Waterproof coat – E-book Assessment @Sourcebooks #NetGalleyRead #OtherPeoplesHouses @claremackint0sh #BookReviewPublisher's description of "Other People's Houses" by Clare Mackintoshmy thoughts on this novel

The Hill‘ is an unique enclave in Cheshire. It’s the place the rich stay. Lately, there have been break-ins on The Hill. At first it appeared routine, however now the thief has upped his sport and folks have been gravely injured… Little has been taken, so is the thief searching for one thing specifically? DS Leo Brady has his work reduce out.

Simply over the border, in Wales, DC Ffion Morgan is working a homicide investigation. A younger lady, an actual property agent, has been discovered lifeless in a lake. She and her fellow actual property brokers have been on a team-bonding work weekend.

Ffion was an incredible character. She is genuine, flawed, and relatable. She is single and lives with a big, furry, flatulent rescue canine named Dave. Ffion is in a romantic relationship with fellow policeman, Leo Brady. Their relationship is evolving, and there’s speak of residing collectively.  Leo is divorced and has a younger son named Harris.

Leo’s ex-wife, Allie, lives on the backside of ‘The Hill‘. She was fairly an fascinating character, one I’ll keep in mind for a very long time, if solely as a result of she was SO shallow. Needy and envious, with an inferior complicated, she desires nothing greater than to ‘slot in’ with the snobbish girls who reside up the hill. She is a social climber with a critical case of put up code envy. She appears to not perceive that the wealthy girls assume her inferior and can by no means settle for her of their unique clique. She was pitiable, but frustratingly obtuse.

In the meantime, there are some chapters that includes a real crime podcast. A podcast that’s delving into a chilly case crime.

Ffion who’s working the homicide investigation, and Leo who’s working the robberies on the Hill, uncover that their circumstances overlap, resulting in an occasion that impacts Leo’s private life in addition to his work.

This novel is the third in a collection that includes DC Ffion Morgan, however, regrettably, it’s the first one within the collection that I’ve learn. It does learn properly as a stand-alone, although I do want I had learn the primary two if solely to be in Ffion’s firm. As I stated earlier, she was a superb character. Sarcastic, clever, forthright, witty, and compassionate in equal measure.

This collection is simply the form of crime fiction I like. It makes equal time for the prison circumstances and the private lives of the detectives. An ideal steadiness, for my part.

The ending of this novel was fairly suspenseful, and wrapped up the investigations in a satisfying method. I hope to learn extra of Ffion Morgan, and may extremely advocate “Different Individuals’s Homes” to lovers of police procedurals, and expertly plotted crime fiction.
